Why Trump Wants to Control the Sky
When Trump announced the creation of the U.S. Space Force in 2018, it was presented as a great vision for our future. It was signed into legislation as the National Defense Authorization Act in December 2019, his last full month in office. He declared it to be the sixth branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. Its purpose is to focus on space defense, operations, and its organization. I believe that controlling the sky means more than just military operations, but containing U.S. sky technology is also a very important issue for our future.
But what exactly does President Trump intend to create with a sixth branch of our U.S. military forces? “The best defense is a good offense” is a popular saying that suggests taking proactive, aggressive action is more effective than passively defending against threats. Well, Trump changed our Department of Defense into the Department of War. This speaks a lot about his intentions.
The sky is critical territory for human existence, with life-threatening environmental consequences, not just for military considerations. In a sense, the air above us is somewhat sacred, although it has always been used for warfare operations. What is Pres. Trump’s greatest interest? Is he more concerned with providing the funding to improve our great technological achievements for the good of mankind or in gaining control over other nations? This is what concerns me.
Trump’s concept of Space Force was signed into legislation at the end of his first term and became a game of political football over how and where it would be headquartered, Alabama or Colorado. Now, in his second term as President, he has announced his plan for a Golden Dome missile defense system. This is another massive expenditure that is not expected to reach fruition until he is at the very end of his second and last days in office. This is history repeating itself. More about this later.
How Trump Wants to Control the Sky
Energized by Trump’s new “golden age of space” and the emergence of space orbit as a warfighting domain, the Space Force became a major aspirational target for people with space-related resumes. Unfortunately, as this link explains, this new concept of Trump has already existed. This was first established on September 1st, 1982, as Space Command (SPACECOM). In November 1985, it was renamed Air Force Space Command (AFSPC or AFSPACECOM).
But now its mission has to be redefined, restructured and consolidated to a central location. When Trump was ending his first term, sixteen thousand airmen, largely from U.S. Space Command, were automatically assigned to the Space Force that last December. By January 2021, the Air Force service selected Redstone Arsenal. After a high-level meeting at the White House with then-President Biden, it was agreed that Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, would be the selection.
In June of 2022, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) published its review of the Air Force service’s election process, which resulted in the selection of the Redstone Arsenal, which is what Trump wanted. This drew criticism from Colorado lawmakers, whose state was a finalist to host the combatant command’s headquarters. While years of organizational restructuring, personnel reassignments, and military jurisdictions dismantling were ongoing, no state had yet been decided.
Finally, in May of 2023, under the Biden Administration, the Air Force picked Colorado for expanding Space Force missions. The Air Force announced it as the permanent location for many more U.S. Space Force units, with none of them in Alabama. This indicated that Biden was moving ahead with at least part of the design it originally had for this new Space Force Command before it became entangled in politics.
The shocking part of all of these changes, as to where Trump’s Space Force is to be located, is the excessive and wasteful military spending this politicization has created. Now, with Trump’s reelection, he is determined to again disrupt everything that has been established with his announcement of moving Space Command to Alabama from its present location in Colorado. This disruptive relocation means that this President is determined to control the shy in whatever way he desires.
Space Command and Space Force
Space Command and Space Force are not the same thing. Space Command is responsible for conducting space operations, sensor management, satellite communications management, and trans-regional missile defense. That is different from the Space Force, which is now a distinct military service like the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.
U.S. Space Command (USSPACECOM or SPACECOM) is one of 11 unified combatant commands (CCMDs) within the Department of Defense (DOD). It is responsible for U.S. military operations in space. SPACECOM is complementary to the U.S. Space Force (USSF), which is an armed service under the Department of the Air Force (DAF).
The U.S. Space Force (USSF) is the warfare argument of Trump’s vision for controlling the sky. This is where the Air Force is dominant. However, controlling the sky also entails using small-scale technological achievements that can be of great benefit worldwide. This is why satellite and drone technology have become extremely important instruments for controlling the sky.
Drones are very helpful in all types of search and rescue missions. They should also be used to oversee the activity of large demonstrations. With their ability to record from all angles, you can get real-time information concerning hostile activity. By adding voice capability, they could also issue verbal warnings or instructions from a local command center or a mobile device. This is a good way for local authorities to control the sky, but not by the federal government. Now let’s talk about another valuable project, Trump’s vision for controlling the sky.
The U.S. military operates 246 satellites, according to the Union of Concerned Scientists. This satellite fleet includes constellations such as the Global Positioning System (GPS). These satellites are widely used by the public and the private sector. For decades, U.S. spacecraft operated without any threat of attack by other nations thanks to this technology. Now that we have all of the military operations under President Trump’s oversight, controlling the sky has become a very critical issue. Controlling the sky in a secure and friendly manner is a sacred responsibility. Think of the sky as being heavenly, not as an atmosphere littered with bombs and polluted with toxic explosive materials.
Space Exploration Technologies
Space Exploration Technologies Corp., more commonly known as SpaceX, is a private American aerospace company. This space transportation company, founded by Elon Musk in 2002, is headquartered at the Starbase development site in Starbase, Texas. Starlink is a satellite internet service developed by SpaceX to provide high-speed broadband, especially in remote areas. It utilizes a constellation of thousands of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites.
Starlink’s commercial streaming services provide coverage to around 150 countries and territories. As of October 2025, it has about 8,600 active satellites and serves around 7.6 million subscribers worldwide. SpaceX manufactures the satellites in Redmond, Washington, and launches them using its own Falcon 9 rockets. This is an amazing technological achievement for controlling the shy for beneficial means. But it became a problem in the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war.
Ukrainian soldiers found equipment within Russian attack drones that allowed them to access Musk’s Starlink satellite system. This link explains how Elon Musk’s SpaceX successfully contained the “unauthorized use” by Russia’s military of his company’s Starlink satellite system. SpaceX’s countermeasures against Russia’s drones were showing some results, but they had also impacted the use of Starlink by some of Ukraine’s own military units.
This is a great example of how satellites and Drones can be used for both military and commercial purposes. Elon Musk visualizes SpaceX as becoming the internet’s replacement, communicating throughout the atmosphere where there is no landline hardwiring across oceans. Despite how good this may sound, aerospace scientists have great concern about how they will impact the safety level for the constellations.
This video predicts that revenue for Starlink will be nearly $11 billion for fiscal year 2025 and will approach $16 billion by the end of fiscal year 2026. This is great news for the very wealthy investors who supported Musk’s endeavor. Unfortunately, one of the effects of Starlink’s rapid growth, which others will be watching closely, is the impact of these massive satellites once they start reentering the atmosphere at the end of their useful purpose.
All of us need to be aware of how sky technology is being used. Many of Trump’s faithful believe that our government can control the weather. This is one of the conspiracy theories that seemed to have its roots during Trump’s first run for office. These people believe that the “deep state” within our government has used these misconceptions to unfairly punish Trump. This, in turn, scares people into not trusting our government’s activities. Note that Trump advocate Marjorie Taylor Greene, seen in this video, has drastically changed her stance on the President and his conspiracy theories.
When the President is fixated on false beliefs such as “might makes right,” the whole world exists in fear. Now, consider that when it comes to military operations, President Trump dismisses the advice of our well-established military leaders when it differs from his beliefs. Take a long, hard look at what is happening within every state in America, as well as all of North and South America.
Trump’s Way of Controlling the Sky

Since his reelection, Donald Trump has deliberately flaunted his intentions that are a more forceful continuation of the policies he got away with in his first Presidency. He has been completely ineffective in negotiating a peaceful resolution to the wars in the Russian-Palestinian conflict and the Russian-Ukrainian territory dispute, which existed in his first term. That failure caused his first impeachment, as my books detail.
On June 17, 2025, Trump posted on his Truth Social platform that ‘We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran.’ This YouTube video demonstrates that he is willing to invest more of our wealth and resources in accomplishing U.S. warfare superiority. Here he is uniting with Israel’s existing military strength and aggressive tactics in joint operations against Iran. This is an ominous sign that he is willing to prioritize his ambitions over the wishful beliefs of so many of his faithful MAGA supporters.
On Nov 29, 2025, this FOX News Channel video presents President Trump’s warning message that Venezuelan airspace is ‘closed.’ He posted on Truth Social: “To all Airlines, Pilots, Drug Dealers, and Human Traffickers, please consider THE AIRSPACE ABOVE AND SURROUNDING VENEZUELA TO BE CLOSED IN ITS ENTIRETY. Thank you for your attention to this matter! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP.” Then his Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth posted on X: “Biden coddled terrorists, we kill them,” in a post defending the Trump administration’s strikes on alleged drug vessels in the Caribbean Sea.”
On February 5, 2026, under newly appointed SouthCom Commander Gen. Francis Donovan, Pres. Trump conducted an overwhelming, lethal air strike on a small boat containing only two alleged narco-terrorists. Watch this 6-minute video and see how Trump wants to control the sky. Were they killed just because they just happened to be traveling along a known narco-smuggling route? Other military officials admitted that they did not know the identities of those victims.
This is followed by a 2nd video showing the massive destruction of the first boat attack that occurred on January 3, 2026. That small boat was also believed to be operated by alleged drug traffickers, with no such proof given by the Trump Administration. This portion of the video starts about 5 minutes into the 6:39 min total. This boat was hit twice with missiles. When this boat was not completely destroyed, a second strike was sent, even though two people were seen clinging to the wreckage for dear life. This created worldwide outrage.

What Is the Golden Dome?
The idea of defending the US against our adversaries’ nuclear weapons has been a military goal that led to the development of anti-ballistic missile (ABM) systems in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. In the 1980s. These early programs failed because of the prohibitive costs of deployment and research development.
Nevertheless, in the 80s, the Reagan administration launched the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI), popularly known as “Star Wars.” Read this article by Chase Enright, written for Ploughshares, an organization that is concerned with how nuclear energy is used. It tells of Star Wars’ fate, which was to remain forever earthbound, and the project was largely canceled at the end of the Cold War.
Now, President Donald Trump has called for a nationwide strategic missile defense system, which he calls the “American Golden Dome.” Hyped as a “breakthrough” in protecting the US from nuclear threats, the plan is inspired by Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system.
